CHEMICAL CONVERSION COATINGS
ON ALUMINUM & ALUMINUM ALLOYS
A chemical conversion coating on aluminum is a very thin, low coating weight, protective finish formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials with the surface of aluminum and its alloys. This coating will yield minor corrosion protection, but is mostly used as an anchoring surface for a secondary process. As the material is prepped with this coating, a base is formed for an adhesive, rubber, or organic coating to be applied.
